This N64 portable is impressive. Most impressive.

Dubbed Darth64 because of it’s passing resemblance to Darth Vader’s iconic helmet (although I think Vader64 would have sounded way cooler), this portable Nintendo 64 hack really stands out from all others I’ve seen.

The Nintendo is notorious for being difficult to successfully hack (the components like to stop working when pulled apart), benheck forum member hailrazer took the challenge and made a strong build integrity a priority.

Another feather in EA’s cap. Metroid Prime team sign up

Gamasutra has the news that three of the principle developers of the Metroid Prime franchise have teamed up to create their own studio - Armature Studio.

But they wont be going to completely alone, the trio have signed a exclusive publishing deal with EA.

The goal of Armature is to create compelling new intellectual properties with a unique development framework that leverages a small core creative team and partners them with strategic external developers.

No surprise there, it’s obvious they’ll need to leave their beloved Samus behind and a compelling new IP sounds, well compelling.

New Punisher game in the making?

If this marvel.com blog is anything to go by, it looks like it could be a solid possibility.

The blog lists no details apart from the above image and the very apt blog title, Feel Free to Speculate…

Considering that both The Punisher’s next silver screen outing is set for a December 5 release, and that The Punisher is no stranger to appearing in video games, I might have just found another hole in my wallet.

The only question now, will Nick Fury come back as a playable character again?

What game do you like most? Play it on this arcade machine

Of course I have a soft spot for custom built arcade machines, and although this one uses a prebuilt cabinet it’s hard to go past.

Over-Clock UK member, Mayhem has unveiled his creation, Project: C-MACC (Complete – Multi Arcade Console Computer System) – capable of playing just about any game known to man.

The idea of the project is quite simple, It is to house every known Emulated and Non Emulated Console, Computer, Arcade system in one cabinet.

That is My aim.

Playing on Playstation 3

Red Dead Revolver - I paid about $1000 for my launch model PS3, so I guess it's time I get some use out of that emotion chip crammed inside. I remember Red Dead Revolver looking rather good when it was released, and despite the low resolution and odd blurring (that I attribute to playing on a HD set) the game holds up well. It looks good despite these graphical limitations because the art direction is so precise and awesome. And it isn't just the art direction, the music, dialogue and set design (for some reason, set seems a more fitting word than level) all work in tandem to recreate an iconic Wild West atmosphere. Red Dead Revolver doesn’t aim to recreate life in the Wild West, it allows our imagination to take over and populates the locale with legendary men and their legendary stories.

Playing on iPhone

edge - Well I never thought I'd consider playing a game on iPhone as actually gaming, but edge has turned me around. The game is built for the iPhone. Sure, it could be ported, but the elegance of what has been created is astounding, it boggles the mind and makes me wonder what amazing gems we'd receive if current gen consoles weren't clones of eachother.

Playing on PC

Sins of a Solar Empire, Demigod, Generals - Zero Hour - It may be a temporary effect as I slowly reintroduce the PC into my gaming diet, but it seems every title I’m excited to play on the platform is either a strategy game, or a cheap indie game. PC gaming isn’t dead, it’s just restricted to titles that require complex input or a pointing device, and games that couldn't be developed or distributed on other platforms. I guess that’s part of the reason the AppStore is so far a success, there were a lot of indie devs stuck on PC for lack of a better alternative.
